Uberlist 2010

A new year, and a new Uberlist!

The Uberlist was born of Nikol Lohr, an all around delightful and ultra-talented woman. I came to the Uberlist by way of my friend Kelly Sue DeConnick, another delightful and talented woman, and have been doing one every year for the past...a lot of years, maybe eight or nine. It's a great motivator and reminder. For my Uberlist of years past, click here.

For the first time this year, I purchased one of Nikol's datebooks as a way to keep myself organized and my Uberlist at hand. It has a space for my Uberlist in the front, tons of fun activities throughout, and nice big calendars with plenty of space for all of my daily activities. As a consumate list maker and totally anal retentive organizer, this datebook is a fucking GODSEND. Why didn't I do this sooner?

My Uberlist categories this year are:

  • Art/Craft
  • Family and Friends
  • Finance
  • Giving Back
  • Health
  • Home
  • Reinvention
  • School
  • Seth
  • Travel
  • Website
  • Whimsy
  • Writing

It isn't necessary to have categories, but I find it helps me stay on target. I'm also following Nikol's example and listing a few alternates to swap out in the event my life no longer suits a particular goal. (I'll be adding those later this week after I get home.)

Do you feel like making an Uberlist? You should do it! I'll open comments on this post; if you decide to create an Uberlist for 2010, post a link to your entry here.

Without further ado, here is my 2010 Uberlist. Crossed-out items are finished.

i absolutely love this idea! i'd been toying with making a big list like this, and now that i've seen yours I'm in! it's such a brilliant way to track all those goals that have been floating around my brain, various pieces of paper, and my blog. thanks for this!

{found you thanks to #best09, btw}

This is so cool and so overwhelming.

59 is something I need to do.

This list is great. After Tuesday I'll have a leetle more free time in which to make such a list, but I can tell you my biggest goals are to 1. Not respond to fights in a mean way...I am the meanest, I always win, but it never feels good and 2. To find a job that I not just like, but really love. (and to this end to finally make an appointment with my old law school career office re: alternate careers, because insurance defense work probably ain't my thing.)

(PS - I've been reading for a few weeks now. I got hooked when I read that one of your life goals was to get drunk with Danny DeVito. My partner met him on an elevator months and months ago, called me up right afterward, and all I could say was, "BUT did you ask him to go to drinks?" Because you know that even at 9 or so in the morning he would have said yes. But of course, the partner did NOT ask him, but he certainly knows now that if he sees Danny DeVito on the elevator again that question is supposed to be the first thing out of his mouth.)

Wishing you and yours a happy healthy new year.

i look forward to your uberlist EVERY YEAR and it's always inspiring. i'll have to post mine later; i'm usually too chicken shit to put it up on my blog.

i hope you like the diva cup. mine is a lifesaver.

You totally inspire me, even just the things you think to do are fantastic. Separating into categories definitely helps to bring the list together, and I am now totally inspired to gather my thoughts into a cohesive list.

Plus, #59 will likely be #1 on mine....my mother may be the first, sadly.

You've inspired me. I'm going to do this. Today.

I love the idea of a list vs resolutions, esp since I don't do resolutions anymore. When I'm done with my bio-epic Last Decade series (what the hell was I thinking?) I'm doing this!

Don't worry, definitely bought one of Nikol's datebooks this morning after reading this post. Let us compare our Uberlists in person...SOON.
